montrose-chipeta-dev-llcMontrose Chipeta Development, LLC is a company that was founded by Ben Jackson and Jack Wesson. The project is focused on a regional shopping mall in Montrose. They formed a development team and purchased 55 acres along U.S. Highway 550 South in the retail district of Montrose, Colorado. The property is slated for annexation into the City of Montrose in the Summer of 2003 and will have a mixed use zoning designation. The Montrose Promenade will be Montrose’s first regional shopping center experience, with over 325,000 sq.ft. of retail space anchored by a National General Merchandiser and including an amphitheater for community events. Montrose is the retail hub for the outlying six counties and cities that surround it; Ouray County, with the cities of Ridgway and Ouray; San Miguel County, with Telluride, Mountain Village, Rico and Norwood; Gunnison County, with Gunnison, Crested Butte and Hinsdale; Delta County with Delta and Montrose County with Montrose. Montrose, Ouray and San Miguel are three of the top ten fastest growing counties in the State of Colorado. Montrose has been chosen the last two years by the AARP as a top ten place for retirement, offering a mild climate, affordable housing, proximity to outdoor activities, and two golf courses with a third under construction.
